Set of Commemorative Plaques

With this set of six plaques I am building a memorial to the present. After the recent experience of losing the “normality” of life, our settled mind-sets can be read all the more clearly as a luxury, a curiosity. The sentences carved into fake marble are real copy-pastes, fragments of text fished out of the waters of Instagram reality. By placing the memorial plaques in this context I connect the virtual world of flattering filters with the grey of physical space. The intervention can also be read as a kind of post-production of the place, which the memorial dresses in a wry festiveness.
