Disconnected

The sculpture has a deliberately clear and defining title, Disconnected. It is meant primarily for the city, but works just as well outside it. The sculpture tries to be a kind of banal allegory of the present. Humanity has reached a point where it can hardly imagine life without being “connected”. Its formal simplicity treats with humour and irony both the much-discussed “blackout” and digitalisation and our dependence on energy in general. With the arrival of the pandemic, the word online has become, over the past year, at the very least mildly overused. Nobody today can imagine what the world would look like offline again. The sculpture is simple, straightforward, almost symbolic. Its size and scale play an important part here. It is markedly larger than its viewer. In shape it is meant to stand out

against its surroundings, in contrast and with dynamism.
