Beggar

U Černé věže
The theme I keep returning to — the figure, the human being. The search for oneself; subconscious answers come best in making art. The beggar, the homeless man, the wretch, the cripple, the rough sleeper — held by the system and by many to be the margin of society. How brilliantly “our” system knows how to divide, to rank, to sort and to pigeonhole. What does that say about us? Unhappy and embittered, looking for happiness in possessions, money, positions, bodily pleasures, relationships and every possible experience? In what way are we more (or less?) human than the supposed “margin of society”? Do possessions make us happier than they are?
