Milan Cais

Milan Cais is a Czech artist, sculptor and musician. From 1988 to 1992 he studied at the Václav Hollar Secondary School of Art in Prague, then (1992/1993–1999) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague — in the sculpture studios of Hugo Demartini and Jindřich Zeithamml and in Jiří David’s studio of visual communication.

His artistic work is multimedia in focus: besides painting and drawing he works in sculpture, installation, performance, video and animation; he uses the pseudonym p3D-01. He often works with recycled materials and technologies — porcelain, glass beads, electronic components, LED screens and objects from the metro and other public spaces.

Since 1988 he has been a co-founder of the band Tata Bojs, where he is the drummer, singer, lyricist, composer, artist and stage designer; his music and his art are bound up with one another.

Selected exhibitions and works: Night Watchman — an installation on the roof of the Goethe Institute (2000); Impression — Rudolfinum Gallery, and EXPO Aichi and Entermultimediale 2 (2005); 9+6 — Gallery of Critics, Prague (2006); Charles’s Watchman — the towers of Charles Bridge, Signal festival (2013). In 2024 he took part in the International Glass Symposium in Nový Bor (Kolektiv Ateliers). At Art in the City 2024 he showed the work Black Hole.

Awards: 3rd place in the Ministry of Culture prize for Nanobook (2004–2005), four Golden Angels for Nanoalbum; the band Tata Bojs has won the Anděl award nine times.
