...with a slight unease they ran their eyes over the metal body, and the longer they stayed in the presence of this lonely orphan of a vanished world, the more questions swarmed in their heads; but instead of answers they had to accept one thing alone … the certainty which declared, without compromise, that this metal artefact, a sculpture perhaps — though it is foolish to try to bind so alien a being with our language ... will stand here in silence and, with its secrets, temper our delusions of grandeur and our excessive faith in human singularity.
