Aquarium – Mobile Gallery

Public Art Gallery — a unique project, and not only of this year's Art in the City

We have turned a shipping container into a one-of-a-kind mobile gallery that will travel through Czech and European cities presenting Czech visual art and culture.

We took a twelve-metre shipping container and conjured an original travelling gallery out of it. Thanks to new glazed walls, the container has turned into a fresh exhibition space. The roof has a function of its own and can be used variously as a stage, a terrace, a viewing platform or as further exhibition space for outdoor sculptures and installations.

The mobile gallery also includes a remarkable green wall: one of the side walls and part of the roof have been overgrown with greenery, thanks to the world's first 3D-printed planters for vertical green walls. It brings together three unique ideas at once — sculpture, 3D concrete printing and green buildings.

The whole concept is designed so that the gallery can travel, just as a shipping container does. It is easily loaded, carried away and set down in a new place. Standing in public space, it is the first gallery that is truly meant for everyone — including those who are not regular visitors to exhibition halls. The exhibitions inside are visible from outside, so it is also a gallery open at any hour, at dawn and at midnight. And free of charge!
