The Civilised III.

The prime mover here is Civilised Nature. It sets the true direction of both growth and decay. Civilised Nature sells its body to the Civilised Stranger. It feels no shame and does not weep; it is ready in all its forms and parts. It has traded in fragments of itself for countless years. There is a kind of beauty in that, and a kind of custom. The Stranger is given a time limit which, long as it is, has a clear end. They live together and grow through one another into a single whole. The Stranger offers himself to Nature as a structural element, so that she can rise and he need never be alone again.
