Flock

The series of crows takes up the relationship between individuality and collective movement through the repetition of an identical shape and a rhythmic structure resembling a flock. The installation treats space as a shifting field in which forms both settle and disperse, while the crows act as a symbolic interface between the natural and the man-made world. An important motif is the disruption of the system — for instance through the white crow, which opens up questions of difference, exclusion and the position of the individual within the whole. The project grew out of a personal experience after an injury, when the motif of crows kept returning in dreams and gradually turned into a shared visual language.
