Lucie Vobr

Lucie Vobr, who also works as Lucie Vobr Jestřabíková, was born in 1990. She graduated from the New Media studio at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art of the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň (2010–2014) and in 2012 completed a study stay in Taiwan. From 2014 to 2017 she continued with sculpture at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.

Her work deals with touch — physical and symbolic — and its transformation through a “destructive gesture”: tearing, crumpling, scratching a surface over and over. She works with fragile materials — paper, adhesive tape, porcelain — whose character she changes through deliberate treatment. She is a co-founder of the artists’ group Gravidity, which explores the position of the human body in space.

She exhibits chiefly in the Czech Republic and Germany, and also in England, Spain and Poland. Her residencies include the Egon Schiele Art Centrum in Český Krumlov (2017), the Taipei Artist Village in Taiwan (2023) and Pragovka Gallery in Prague (2025).
