Kryštof Vitner

Czech artist, lyricist and performer, born in 1994, a native of Žatec. From 2010 to 2014 he studied at the Secondary School of Applied Arts and Higher Vocational School in Turnov (flat and relief metal engraving), and from 2015 to 2019 at the Faculty of Art and Design of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (Natural Materials studio), where he also continued into the follow-up master’s programme (Interactive Media studio); he completed a placement in Jiří Kovanda’s studio. He works across media — performance, painting, music, making clothes and masks; his approach joins performativity with everyday activities, with an emphasis on humour and on a critique of social stereotypes. He also does slam poetry (he performed at a slam poetry showcase in Žatec) and music (he has a profile on Supraphonline). Exhibitions include Trace Amount, a POP-UP exhibition at Křenovka, Penetration of Integrity, participation in Designblok and Print of the Year; he has exhibited at the Berlínskej model.

He was a resident of the Line 42 project. He runs art courses at the Kouřim Music Symposium (2024, 2025) and at the European Heritage Days (2023–2025).

For Art in the City 2024 he made, together with David Síla, the sculpture Body of Sound (Piaristické náměstí — the monastery garden, České Budějovice): the shape of the sculpture follows the 2D shape of a sound track recorded and mixed in České Budějovice (street musicians, doors opening, the rush of weirs, the audible traffic light signal); it was produced by the Scoolpt studio using 3D concrete printing, and the resulting object weighs roughly 1.2 tonnes.
