Karolína Manová

A glass artist, a student in the Glass Design studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of Tomas Bata University in Zlín (studio head Professor Petr Stanický); her works are listed in the faculty’s survey under the year 2022/2023. She works with fused glass sculpture and combines glass with metal, with drawing and with painting of the human figure.

For Art in the City 2023 in České Budějovice she created the site-specific installation Spirits (Na Sadech park) — small fused glass sculptures of supernatural creatures from another dimension placed on dead trees; the work takes up the paradox that a dead tree, “useless” from a lay point of view, is at the same time a microworld of thousands of creatures, and that clearing it away is an apocalypse for them. Another work is the kinetic installation in metal and glass Daymare, which joins drawing and painting of the human figure with the artist’s fear of the dark; it works with sound and movement and is accompanied by paintings of a dissolving skeleton (production and photography Christopher Hewitt). As part of Art in the City 2023 she exhibited together with fellow students of the Zlín glass studio, Chris Hewitt and Matija Jankovič.
