Josefína Dušková

Josefína Dušková was born on 27 October 1981 in Prague. She studied at a secondary school of applied crafts (carving/sculpture) and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2002–2008), in the studio of figurative sculpture and medal making under Professor Jan Hendrych. She lives and works in Prague and has exhibited actively since 2005.

Her sculpture has long focused on imprints and their energy, on the emergence and uncovering of organic spaces and on giving symbolic presence to emptiness through imprints of the living. She deals with birth, ending and transience, and is drawn to unstable, fragile materials — wax, ice, foam, cotton wool, pigments and plaster.

Her solo exhibitions include “Fragilities” (2012), “Into Silence” (2013) and “Horizons” (2018); in 2024 she had a solo exhibition in the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Konojedy. For her work she received an international workshop scholarship in Florence (2003), a scholarship from the Czech Fund for Fine Arts (2004) and the City of Benešov Prize for young artists under 35 (2010). Her works are held in the collections of the National Gallery Prague.

At the Art in the City festival (Vysočina, Pelhřimov 2026) she is the author of the works Timelessness and Playing with Time.
