Gabriel Bardon

Mgr. Gabriel Bardon (*1980) is a Czech sculptor and painter living and working in Brno. He studied painting and sculpture at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Písek and then graduated from the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. His work is dominated by hanging and spatial objects sharing a common theme — depicting a timeless existence, a transient reality and a world that only an attentive observer sees. He inclines above all towards spatial expression; a characteristic subject is polarity and the collision of the present world with the irrational. An important element in all his works is light, of which he says that it “goes on working on the piece by itself”. He works with concrete, steel, metal reinforcement and with three-dimensional relief painting. He works with leading architects and interior designers, for whom he makes indoor and outdoor sculptures, and takes commissions for portrait busts for towns and villages.

In 2013 he was present at the birth of the INDIGES creative space in Brno (a gallery, sculpture workshop and studio under one roof), which he initiated together with Radek Kalousek.

Works for the Art in the City festival in České Budějovice: “Atomec” (2024, Háječek park) and “Liberation” (2025, the garden of the South Bohemian Research Library Na Sadech) — a concrete block with steel reinforcement emerging from it as a symbol of liberation from rigid structures.
