Christopher Hewitt

Chris Hewitt is a young glass designer and multimedia artist connected with the Glass Design studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, where he studied under Professor Petr Stanický. His work focuses on glass sculpture, spatial installation, product design and photography.

In 2023 he took part in the Art in the City festival in České Budějovice, where he presented the site-specific installation Budějovice Orb. A set of iridescent glass spheres placed in the garden of the Dominican monastery, it worked with reflected light, shifts of perspective and interaction with public space. The project also invited visitors to make their own photographic interpretation of the work using the hashtag #budějovickýorb.

In 2024 he won an internal competition to design the official glass prizes for the 40th FAMUFEST festival. He has also presented his work at Designblok as part of the studio exhibition Morface at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, where he showed the current possibilities of studio glass design and spatial work.
