Monika Horčicová

Monika Horčicová (who now also uses the name Monika Váňová Horčicová) is a Czech sculptor; she lives and works in Rosice near Brno. Education: 2004–2008 the Václav Hollar Secondary School of Art in Prague (advertising art); 2008–2014 the Faculty of Fine Arts of Brno University of Technology, Sculpture Studio 1 (headed by Assoc. Prof. Michal Gabriel); 2013 a study placement at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has worked as a freelance sculptor since 2008.

The basic means of expression in her work is the human skeleton and bones, which she moves into new planes of meaning through unusual compositions; her sculptures often take up vanitas. Among her materials is polyester resin. She uses digital technologies consistently — computer modelling, 3D scanning, 3D printing and three-dimensional milling — and is counted among the current of digital sculpture. Many of her works are made together with Dušan Váňa.

Her sculptures stand in public space in towns in the Czech Republic and abroad (Germany, Australia, Ecuador). She has taken part in the Sculpture Line festival.
