Michal Škapa

Michal Škapa is a Czech artist whose work grows out of graffiti and street art. He belongs to the generation of Prague writers that appeared on the Czech graffiti scene in the first half of the 1990s; he has used several writer names, the best known being 2Rock, Key and Tron. In 2000 he travelled to the USA with Splash and Romeo, painting several New York subway panels and one colour wholecar.

He works across a wide range of media and formats: murals, acrylic abstractions built on lettering and its encoding into pictures, airbrushed figurative compositions, graphic design, site-specific installations and spatial objects, and in recent years lithographs and canvases as well. He is a co-founder of the Analog!Bros screenprinting workshop. He has worked in graphic design for magazines (Rooftop, Free Magazine), on festival visuals, books and CD covers.

He has exhibited since 2003; the Czech Wikipedia lists over 40 exhibitions up to 2019. He represented the Czech Republic at the world exhibition EXPO 2010 in Shanghai (the Czech pavilion). He has exhibited at the Moravian Gallery in Brno, at the Prague galleries Trafo Gallery, The Chemistry Gallery and DOX, and in Berlin, Paris, Brussels and Warsaw. His projects include 00 NIC (2011), Graffoman, Analfabet, Babylon and T2B (2021). He is represented by KodlContemporary and Galerie Dolmen.
