Martin Rajčan

MgA. Martin Rajčan, born in 1976 in Bratislava, currently lives and works in the Czech Republic. In 2007 he completed the master’s programme in Fine Arts, field of Sculpture, in the Sculpture II studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.
His work sits in the register of the minimalist object — of the work installed in 2008 by the Black Tower in České Budějovice, the festival’s curatorial text says that he “freed himself from form and from classical plasticity in order to bring the surface to the fore”. He has exhibited repeatedly at the Art in the City sculpture festival in South Bohemia: 2008 (the object Untitled, the Black Tower, České Budějovice), 2009 (Untitled — two cages in dialogue with one another, Piaristické náměstí), 2018 (Drop, wood, the Ohrada hunting lodge, Hluboká nad Vltavou), 2020 (Hi, and see you sometime…, wood, the blind arm of the Malše, České Budějovice).
He has also exhibited at the Crears Gallery (Rožnov pod Radhoštěm) — a joint presentation with Karolína Rossí and Sebastian Kitzberger.
