Karel Burian

Karel Burian studied at the Secondary Technical School of Ceramics in Bechyně (1989–1993) and then at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (1993–1999). His work brings together product design, automotive design, architecture and free art, and in his Burian Design studio he develops a cross-disciplinary approach inspired by the Renaissance idea of the artist.

A key part of his work is modelling and industrial design, which he has long pursued in the development centres of renowned car makers such as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Bureko. He carries the experience gained in automotive design over into product design, architecture and his own artistic work.

Alongside his work with the car industry, he has been developing his own design projects and commissioned work since the 1990s. His works are held in private and public collections and stand in public space in the Czech Republic and abroad.
