Anna Krninská

Anna Krninská is a Czech sculptor from an artistic family in Jindřichův Hradec. Her father is the academic sculptor Vladimír Krninský, her mother a ceramicist, and her three sisters also work in the arts; Anna continues the family’s sculptural craft.

She graduated from the St Agnes of Bohemia Secondary School of Applied Arts in Český Krumlov. From 2015 to 2018 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in Lukáš Rittstein’s Sculpture 1 studio, and from 2018 to 2021 in Vojtěch Míča’s studio of figurative sculpture and medal making, graduating in 2021.

She works realistically and figuratively, often in concrete (concrete reliefs). Her long-running subject is sport and movement — diving, rowing, cycling, gymnastics. She herself rowed competitively for ten years and did ballet for ten years.

Her diploma work “A Leap into the Known” (2021) treats a leap from the stage into the crowd as a sporting discipline and is accompanied by sculptural portraits of the members of her family — her parents and three sisters. She has exhibited among other places in the Kraffer Garden (Jindřichův Hradec, the project “A Leap into the Known”) and as part of the project “Bikers” (recorded on artmap.cz). She has also exhibited abroad, among other things in connection with the Olympic Games in Milan. In 2025 she won the open call of the Art Grand Slam 2025 project, run by the Sport in Art platform in cooperation with the Czech Centres; as part of it she plans to cycle from Jindřichův Hradec to Rome from 22 June to 5 July 2026, placing concrete reliefs with motifs of the Czech landscape along the route.
